On June 11, IDC Consulting released the “China Wearable Device Market Quarterly Tracking Report”, saying that in the first quarter of 2019, China’s wearable device market shipments were 19.5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 34.7%. Basic wearable devices (wearable devices that do not support third-party applications) increased by 25.5% year-on-year, and smart wearable devices grew by 84.6% year-on-year.
In terms of enterprises, in the first quarter of 2019, millet shipments were 4.279 million units, up 34.3% year-on-year, with a market share of 21.9%, ranking first; Huawei’s shipments were 3.605 million units, up 214.0% year-on-year, with market share of 18.5%, ranked second; Apple’s shipments were 1.993 million units, up 16.8% year-on-year, with a market share of 10.2%, ranking third.

In terms of products, the first quarter of 2019, China’s wearable devices in the adult watch market shipped 2.01 million units, an increase of 89.4%. After experiencing explosive growth in 2018, the adult watch market continued to maintain strong growth in 2019.
Pan Xuefei, IDC China Research Manager, believes that with the maturity of the wearable device market, the adult watch market will have a broad market growth space, becoming an important link in the IoT ecosystem to connect people and things. eSIM, intelligence and health data analysis are important trends for future adult watches.
